In a Crafty Mood...

For some reason, I was in a mood to make Halloween Decor this year. That mood mixed with great inspiration from www.paperclipping.com led to some fun with spray paint, glitter, glue, foam and lots of Halloween goodies.

First up are two pieces I made to hang from our curtain rods in the living room. I purchased the leaves from Wal-Mart. They were green so I spray painted them black.

From there, I decorated them, hanging some items with wire and some with ribbon. Some decorations are handmade from scrapbooking paper, some items I simply put glitter on, and some items are scrapbooking embellishments that I edged in glitter and added as they were.

I also came across some really cool jewelry pieces and chains that I added and draped throughout. This was super fun to make!

Next, I came across a package of Halloween cookie cutters and decided to try something out. I spray painted them different colors, edged each side with glitter, and hung on two tiers of ribbon. This decoration went above the kitchen sink. (Sorry for the bad photos, hopefully you can see some detail).

Lastly, I purchased a decorated this piece called the Tree of Life by Advantus. (Again, inspired from Paperclipping.com). More homemade decorations, more jewelry pieces...the best thing about this piece? I can pack away the Halloween decorations and add the Christmas ones. 8 )

Halloween

Halloween was a blast this year! Each year we do something a little different...sometimes we bake and decorate cookies, sometimes we paint pumkins...this year we did the traditional carving of the pumkins. Keaton did a great job drawing the faces (and other marvelous works of art) and while apprehensive at first about cleaning the "goo" out of the pumkins, came to enjoy that as well. Mallory wouldn't touch the insides, but had fun observing the process. Of course, Dan can always make these occassions fun...he is the best dad. 8 ) Look at the faces on those girls...true joy.

On Halloween itself, we first went to the Hastings Downtown Trick-or-Treating event and while a bit chaotic, it was fun. After supper we went trick-or-treating in Blue Hill (which was nice we got to see both grandparents since my mom went with us in Hastings). We met up with some friends and trick-or-treated all over town. The weather was beautiful...just an overall super fun day. And it didn't help AT ALL that the girls were adorable in their costumes. 8 ) Both girls LOVE Wizard of Oz so Keaton was Dorothy and Mallory was a munchkin. They both played their parts well. 8 )
